Born about 1717, John Hynde Cotton was son of Sir John Hynde Cotton Bt., [1] and his wife, Lettice Crowley.[2] He was educated at Westminster and Emmanuel College, Cambridge.[1]
He was returned to Parliament in 1741 as member for St Germans. [3]
On the 1st of July 1745 he married his cousin, Anne Parsons, daughter of Humphrey Parsons [2] and his wife, Sarah Crowley. They were parents of six sons and three daughters. [2]
On the 4th of February 1752 his father died and John succeeded him as the 4th Baronet Cotton of Landwade. He was also returned to the Parliament of 1747 for Marlborough to replace his father, [4] and took the seat on his own account in 1752. [5] In 1764 at a by-election he found a seat at Cambridgeshire and took it in his own right in 1768 and 1774. [6]
John died on the 23rd of January 1795. [1][2]
